The NCTP Story

In the spring of 2010, Drury University introduced a campus-wide tobacco-free initiative which produced a working relationship with Ty Patterson and the Center of Excellence for Tobacco Free Campus Policy. Through this collaboration, the idea for an independent, nationally-focused center which would expand the work begun by the Center of Excellence was born. In Fall 2010, Drury University and Ozarks Technical Community College approved initial support for the National Center for Tobacco Policy. Patterson serves as the Director of the NCTP, where he cultivates an innovative and highly successful approach to tobacco policy based on respect for others and the environment. Today, the NCTP acts independently of Drury and OTC and seeks to help organizations develop, implement, and sustain tobacco policy. A new focus is being given to assisting businesses in the development of tobacco policy, as well as attempts to conduct ongoing research regarding tobacco policy.
